One Year of Pocket PepTalks

I was never a cheerleader in the traditional sense. However, I do give great peptalks.
From a young age I have written notes and letters of encouragement to myself and others.
In 2023, I challenged myself to share from my boxes of Pocket Peptalk notecards. His boxes hold years of cards holding many gems….my own personal notes to myself, key points of past presentations, meaningful quotes, a few nagging reminders, and sometimes hard truths.
Hoping this box of cards could support others,
I committed to do make a few videos weekly for one year and see how it went. It wasn’t easy and, in fact, it was way harder than I anticipated. Also, totally worth it.
The lessons I learned about myself are hard to describe. It was like watching myself try to squirm out of an idea that seemed good in theory, but the execution was far more difficult. Mostly because some of the best cards to share came from the some of my hardest challenges of mental balance and perseverance. And each card brought those memories back. But as I reviewed the cards, I realized I made it through each challenge stronger than before. My pocket peptalks were a tool that definitely helped me rise above many challenges and hopefully, they can support you as well.
As I type this, I have been without power for four days post Hurricane Milton. I am sitting at a local Starbucks charging up and enjoying some air-conditioning. Even after all these years of practice, it seems that my resiliency training continues! I am hopeful power is back on soon and grateful for help from friends and family this week.
I am taking a break from recording pocket peptalks to address a few other projects before me at this time. Thanks for your support in year one and look for more to come!
